Waiting Much?

So a friend and I were talking about life the other day. The conversations we have are always filled with love, transparency, honesty, compassion, and a whole lot of Jesus.

Since we were doing all that heart to heart talk it was inevitable that we would eventually share some of the things we are trusting God for that has not yet come to pass. We got onto this subject of waiting and the process of waiting expectantly vs. giving up.

The conclusion we came to was that it is not always easy waiting while watching others receive what you want. Some people are just naturally born to not care while others seem overwhelmed with the wait. Then there are some of us who rejoice with others for their blessings while crying a little inside for themselves each time. It’s not that someone isn’t genuinely happy for someone else, but the reminders sting just a tad. They remind the person of what they desire yet don’t have. Rejoicing for others blessings don’t negate the feelings or longings one has inside. We all go through phases of waiting and at different paces and in different ways. Some are stuck at anger, while others have been held up with jealousy or envy, meanwhile others are living in bitterness. Some become argumentative while others become sad or hopeless. Then there are some who remain hopeful through it all. There may be tears and questions, but the belief of God’s faithfulness spurs them on each day. This is the kind of waiting, if we have to, that I want for us all. The “patiently joyful endurance” type of wait!

I want to say that life “isn’t” fair, but God does love you. He will never give you more than you can bare nor will He withhold any good thing from you. So today I want to encourage you to release the weight of whatever it is. It could be that dream job, the car, the home, the husband, a baby, good health, deliverance, financial freedom, or unified happy family that you are desiring. I want you to talk to God about it, pour out your heart. Cry, scream, and do it a little more. Find a scripture or one from below and grab a hold to it. Believe, hope, and have faith. God loves you and longs to bless you in the best way He sees fit for your life. Trust His process and His plan. Sometimes the weight of it may hurt, but push through. There is no need to look at anyone else for what they have, be thankful for their blessings and celebrate in their joys. Do this while patiently trusting God for the desires of your own heart.

I encourage you today to carve out some time in a quiet place; release the sorrow, envy, jealousy, hurt, frustration, worthlessness, inadequacies, anger, bitterness, or anything else contrary to your goal. Do it as many times as you need to. Exchange your ashes for beauty, your mourning for the oil of joy, and the spirit of heaviness for the garment of praise. Let’s glorify God in the waiting.

I’d love to hear your thoughts or comments. Feel free to share them below. As always if you need specific prayer, just say that and I will lift you up.
